1. How much does a hipster weigh? An Instagram!
On Tuesday I joined in with the Instagram fun for #teachertalktuesday and something great happened... Kristin - the Teeny Tiny Teacher - liked my post!!! It was super exciting! Follow me on Insty @lozzybeck. :)
2.
We learnt all about the letter 'b' this week. We made these cuties - Bears in Bubble Baths - as a sweet treat. I found the idea on Pinterest (of course!) from what2cook. I modified their recipe a little. The baths are chocolate cookies and we added some vanilla frosting as water. The bears are Tiny Teddies, with mini-marshmallow bubbles. Bake for a few minutes to warm the marshmallows. The kidlets loved them!
3.
My Preppies needed to do some more work with ten frames and counting, so I turned some dollar store treasure chests into the easiest maths game ever. The kidlets rolled the dice and then added that many pieces of 'treasure' to their frame. When they had 10 pieces, they poured their treasure into their treasure chest. It was great for questions like 'How many more do you need to make 10?' and discussions about who had more or less. Oh... and lots of talking like a pirate, too! :)
4.
Using paint dabbers to show 'how many'. Easy, right? Uh, it appears not! Although the little one in this photo is dabbing the right number... pretty much everyone else just dabbed away to their heart's content, paying absolutely no attention to the numbers at all! You win some, you lose some! :)
5.
Found this quote this week and loved it. :)
Happy Friday everyone!

Woohooo! An Australian! I just found your blog through the linky and am your latest follower. I'm in NZ (was born in Aussie) and am pretty excited to find another blogger who isn't on the countdown to summer holidays like everyone else in blogger-land seems to be!
ReplyDeleteI love your bears in baths! It's so cute! Your paint dabber comment made me laugh too!
Have a good weekend

Magic Mistakes & Mayhem
Hi Serena,
DeleteThanks for following! Isn't it great to find other bloggers in the southern hemisphere? :)
Lauren
Your 5 for Friday gave me a good chuckle! Love the joke and the teddy bear bubble baths. And what fun is the Pirate treasure game...teachers like you make me think I want to teach younger...and then your number 4, and I change my mind. I like lots of order, he he he! Thanks for following us. We joined your party too!
ReplyDeleteI like lots of order too... it was my mistake to leave them unsupervised with the paint dabbers!! :)
DeleteThanks so much for following.

Hi Lauren!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found me! I am loving your blog! You have such fun ideas! Love the bear baths and pirate treasure chests especially! I wish I could find those here! I can't wait to read more!
:)Kim
The treasure chests were in a pack of four in the party section of the dollar store - I think they're supposed to be loot bags! :)
DeleteYour bear bubble baths are so cute!!! I've really got to get on the Instagram bandwagon with everyone else.

Extra Special Teaching
Hi Angelia,
DeleteInstagram is fun but I find that I don't have much time in the day to stop and post anything, so I'm going to make an extra special effort on Tuesdays! :)
