Currently May!

A new month means that it's time to link up for Farley's Currently!

It's Saturday night here and I am on the couch after a busy day.  It's so nice to be able to get cozy with  a blanket and a cup of tea now that the weather is finally cooling off! I've been on the search for a throw rug to snuggle under - I've got my heart set on a really expensive one that I'm waiting to go on sale.  Until then I'll keep the search for the perfect (cheaper) one going.  Recently I've been looking into buying a house (well... a beachside apartment really) so anytime I buy something it's got to be a necessity - I know when I buy my own place I'll want to redecorate! :)

Here in Australia we don't have vacation time for another 2 months, and then it will be the middle of winter.  I'll pretend it's almost summer break so I can play along with the final Currently question! Luckily for me I live close enough to the beach that I can walk down any time I want, so when school's out that's what I do often.  I'm hoping that this year I'll get to visit my friend who is living in New York, not sure whether that will be in September or closer to Christmas.  My dream is to go back to Europe - I'd love to see Italy and Austria again, and have always wanted to go to Spain and Greece.

Next time I post it's gotta be classroom photos - I feel like I'm doing a terrible job of remembering to snap them during the week.

Better get back to the channel surfing... Have a happy weekend whatever you're up to! Don't forget to check out the linky for more Currently posts.

It's Currently April!

Happy April, everyone!  Here in Queensland that means some cooler autumn weather (finally!) but I know for lots of you it's the opposite and you're probably celebrating spring sunshine. :) Writing this post has been on my mental 'to do' list for days, so I'm glad to finally have a few minutes to sit down and get it done.

Listening/loving/thinking: I'm on two weeks of Easter break which means sleeping in! I live right by the beach so the Easter long weekend usually means that things get really busy around here with people on holidays.  The weather prediction was for torrential rain (it ended up being sunny all weekend) so it's not as busy as it usually is, but there's still enough people around to create a nice, happy, holiday vibe.  My nephew was here for a few days and we spent lots of time exploring rock pools and building sandcastles.

Wanting: It seems that I've fallen out of love with every piece of clothing that I own! I think a day of serious shopping is in order to stock up on some new clothes and accessories.

Needing: A few times a year a bunch of clever bloggers get together for a Swap, Share, Give linky party.  We swap and review a product, give them away to lucky winners and also share awesome freebies.  The next one is coming up soon and I need to get started on my freebie!

Eggs-plaining my name: Even though my name is Lauren, I'm mostly called Lozzy by family and close friends (Loz is the Aussie nickname for Lauren). When I first started my blog I wanted a name that represented the things I find most important in the classroom - so I settled with Love, Laughter and Learning in Prep.

Another Currently done for the year! Time sure flies when you're having fun. :)

It's Currently March!

It's that time again! March here in Australia brings Autumn, and cooler weather.  I'm excited to bust out my collection of scarves, cosy knits and boots but I think we're a few weeks away from that yet. :)

After a surprise professional development day at school I was not in the head space to stay last this afternoon in my classroom, so I was home in time to watch 'The Bold and The Beautiful'! I've been watching this show since I was about 12 so I love to catch random episodes when I can.

My class this year is absolutely gorgeous. They are kind, caring and considerate, they love to learn and they behave beautifully.  I just love spending time with all of my kidlets. :)

Yesterday I finished reading 'The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society' - an old favourite - and think I might start another book tonight.  Any recommendations for me??

I stayed up late last night watching 'Argo' on TV so I think tonight will be an earlier one.  If I find a book to read I'll soak in a hot bath and read a few chapters before bed.

As I left school this afternoon I realised that my office is seriously a disaster.  I use it as my "I'll just put this here until I have time to put it away properly" space, and as you can imagine I never come back to it... I really need to tidy it up and put things away because I know there's some things in there I probably should be using!

No Spring break for us! But we will have 2 weeks at Easter time.  Autumn is wonderful beach weather (not so hot that it's uncomfortable!) so I'll most likely spend a few days in the sun.  I've also got 4 free movie passes so I might take my little cousins to see Cinderella!

Link up with Farley to share your Currently - lots of people share on Instagram so if you don't have a blog there's no reason to miss out. :)

It's Currently February!

Can you believe it? February already.  Thank goodness for Farley's linky to keep me on track. :)

Not much explanation needed... except maybe for my pageant title.  I'd like to think I'm organised and in control of things, but really I'm just keeping a lid on the chaos - which suits me just fine! :)

Have a wonderful week, friends.

It's Currently January!

We're almost halfway through the first day of 2015 here in Australia, and what better way to start the year than by linking up with Farley for her Currently party?

I live close enough to the beach that during holiday time it gets very busy right around my house!  This morning I'm listening to the noise of families walking past and kids laughing in the pools close by as we get set for another scorcher! We've had a few days of glorious sunshine after a cloudy week or so and it has been absolutely perfect for a soak in the sun followed by a dip in the Pacific. :)

Earlier this week I was able to go and pick up the Christmas gift I had made for myself.  I'm loving my green amethyst and diamond ring!

There's still a few more weeks of break before the new school year starts for us, but I've been thinking of all the things I'd like to get done before then.  Lots of organising needs to happen here at home and of course there's the never-ending 'to do' list that we all have swirling around in our minds as we get ready to set up our classrooms and welcome a new bunch of kidlets.  I've been very busily pinning so I think I need to tackle one project each day!

I don't usually make any resolutions for the new year, but there's a few things in my life I'm wanting to change to make sure I start 2015 off on the right foot.  I need to be consistent with planning ahead at school, make sure I'm organised to eat well, take advantage of where I live and spend more time at the beach, and be sure to spend my money wisely! I've made a little subway art print to put in a frame both at home and on my desk at school so hopefully that will motivate me a little.

As soon as school goes back I'll be wishing I was at the beach so I need to make the most of it while I can.  I think today it will be a late afternoon walk and swim.

Yes: I must do a better job this year of tracking my kidlets' data!  I plan to use Three Ring to help.
Maybe: I've been hemming and hawing about buying a little beachside apartment... I need to look into it to see if it's possible for me and if there's anything on the market that suits.
A wish: Travel! Always. Googling flights has become my hobby. :)

Head on over to the linky to read what everyone else is Currently doing as we celebrate the beginning of a brand new year!

Currently December!

Oh my... I am so late to the Currently party it's not even funny!  I do have a good excuse though - my seriously slack blogging lately has been a result of end of school year madness!  With report cards, organising our Christmas concert and staff party and getting my Preppies ready to move on to Year 1 I've been frantically busy for the last month or so.  Now that I'm finally on holidays I'm planning to pop by here much more regularly. What better way to get back on track than with Farley's linky?

Listening: I was woken up this morning by a huge clap of thunder.  We get thunderstorms almost daily here in Summer - the ones in the morning usually have a tonne of thunder, but the evening storms can be quite dangerous with lots of rain, lightning and hail.

Loving: Speaking of waking up - how glorious to open your eyes and realise that it's the first day of a six week break from school!!  My plans today involve coffee, the couch and Pinterest to celebrate. :)

Thinking: I sat for a long time wondering what to add as my 'Thinking' item and then realised that my mind is completely blank.  After a very, very busy term organising our Christmas concert and staff party, writing report cards and getting my Preppies ready to move on to Year 1 it is really wonderful not to have a giant list of things to do whirling around in my brain.  I'm sure I'll soon start thinking of next year and everything I have to do to get ready for that, but at the moment it's tumbleweeds!

Wanting: End of school year madness means that my house is in desperate need of a thorough cleaning.  Any volunteers?? :)

Needing: My school finishes up a week before the public schools do, so I would really like to get my Christmas shopping mostly finished before the malls are full of kids! I have bought some very cute gingerbread man wrapping paper, but that's as far as I got.

Giving: Do you use Three Ring?  Although this isn't a super exciting or Christmassy piece of advice it's one that will save you a tonne of time.  Visit Three Ring to set up your class profile and then use the app on your iPad or iPhone throughout the year to save notes, photos or videos of your kidlets reaching their learning goals.  You can save the evidence into categories - Spelling, Reading, Number, whatever you want! - and then review each child's progress in each area during the year and for report cards.  Oh, and it's FREE! :)

Well friends, the time has come for me to make another coffee and do some pinning.  I hope that wherever you are your weekend is relaxing and fun.

It's Currently November!

I'm always surprised at how fast time flies - November already?  Popping in for a quick catch up with Farley's Currently!

It's Spring here and the temperatures have been unusually hot - getting up towards 30+ degrees C every day! (That's close to 90 degrees F for my friends from the US!)  Today we also had ridiculous humidity so I'm really hoping we get a good thunderstorm tonight to break the heat.

Only 4 and a bit more weeks with my Preppies!  After that we have 2 days of assessing next year's crop before our Summer holidays.  This year has gone soooo fast, but I am ready for a break.

Next Saturday is my birthday and my family is coming up for a day at the beach and then I'm having a bbq with friends.  I'm really looking forward to relaxing!

I'm definitely having an end of the school year energy slump... Why does that always happen when there's still so much work to do!!  I think I might have to resort to a morning Berocca for a kickstart each day.

With report cards looming on the horizon I need to get my assessment started this week.  Some is done from last term, but I know that if I don't get onto it I'll be panicking at the last minute.

I have a book on my night stand that has been there for a while, it's called 'Catching Air'.  I try to read a few pages each night but to be honest it's taken me so long to read it that I'm not really engaged with the story.  Hopefully over Summer break I'll be able to get some good stretches of reading time in! :)

That's all from me - time for dinner and Sunday night TV.  Have a wonderful week friends!

Wednesday, 3 September 2014

It's Currently September!

Woah baby, talk about late to the party!  Luckily the lovely Farley keeps the Currently linky open all month. :)  Here's what September has in hold for me:

Listening:  Chris is here and he cooked steak for dinner.  :)

Loving: Although this term has flown by, I am counting down to holidays.  Two weeks of sunshine and daytime TV.... bliss!

Thinking: A nice glass of wine, a walk on the beach, a funny story from a kidlet... sometimes it's those simple moments that make you realise that life is great.

Wanting: Study? Who knows... but I'm in the mood for a fresh challenge. :)

Needing: On the weekend we had gorgeous, hot weather - perfect for a drive to the Gold Coast and lunch in the sun. Could I find anything to wear? Nope.  After sifting through a million cardigans and scarves I figured that it's time to hit the shops for some sleeveless styles!

3 Trips: Oh, this was tricky!!! I have the travel bug and would jump on a plane to anywhere in a heartbeat!  I chose Canada - because it's my second home, Spain because it's always appealed to me and The Great Ocean Road because that's next on the list. :)

That's it from me tonight.  The Block is about to start and I have a couch to be horizontal on.  Have a wonderful week, whatever it has in store for you!

Saturday, 2 August 2014

It's Currently August!

Hello, August!  I hope you've arrived to get me out of my blogging slump. :)

You know what the arrival of any new month means, though... Currently time with Farley!

Listening: We've been having odd weather here this week -  it's right in the middle of Winter, but a few days have had temperatures around 27 degrees C. This afternoon the wind has picked up and is absolutely howling.  I bet it's cold on the beach!

Loving: Lately I've been coming home from school and crashing on the couch - zonking out for a 20 minute snooze.  I've tried all sorts of tricks to increase my energy but I've just been really lethargic.  Those lazy afternoons are not so great... but weekend afternoons with nothing to do but watch a movie are awesome!  Today I watched 'The Jane Austen Book Club'.

Thinking: I've really lost my TpT and blogging mojo these past few weeks (see above...).  I have two cute products that just need to be finished off, and lots of fun ideas from my classroom to share.  Here's hoping I can post them this week!

Wanting: We had our school carnival today!  I bet you can imagine how excited my kidlets were all day yesterday. :)  I looked after my friend's little girl while she sold strawberries and cream on her stall and we had lots of fun on the teacup ride, patting some piglets and calves, getting her face painted and chatting to the other kidlets.  It was hot though - isn't a day in the sun always exhausting?  I can't wait for a hot shower.

Needing: Tomorrow I'm going to spend all day getting my house in order... fun, hey?

1st Day: Here in Australia our Summer vacation is during December/January.  We went back two weeks ago for Term 3 after our Winter break. :)

I'm headed showerwards, and then I'm going to spend this evening catching up on my Bloglovin' feed and getting my wishlist ready for the TpT sale!  My store will be 20% off - use the code B2S14 for a total of 28% off. :)

It's Currently JUNE!

I just l-o-v-e Farley's linky!  I love to have a sneaky-peek into the lives of the bloggers I stalk follow and Currentlies are the perfect way to do that. :)  No need to hide in the bushes outside my house with your binoculars, here's what I'm up to this lovely June:

Listening: I'm so excited about my dinner!  Pity it's got more than an hour left to cook...

Loving:  I struggle a lot with back and shoulder pain and recently have taken to soaking the pain away in a nice, hot bath!  It's such a relaxing way to unwind - and with a book and glass of wine the troubles of the day literally melt away.

Thinking: If you read my Five for Friday post you would have seen my new attempt at staying organised.  For those of you who were wondering (lol) my to-do lists are keeping me on track!  I actually got 2 new products posted to my TpT store last week (both of which I love!) and my house is clean and tidy.

Wanting: I know most of the people reading this are in Summer already, but we're 2 days into Winter and the weather has been all too warm for my liking!  Where's the cold days and even colder nights?  Today I had my cardigan off before 8:30am and put the aircon on around lunch time. Sigh...

Needing: I have so many awesome resources that I need to get prepared.... Nothing else to say about that, you get it! :)

Summer Bucket List:  We have winter holidays coming up in just less than 4 weeks, so I'll pretend that's my Summer!  I'm hoping to spend lots of time on the beach (about 2 minutes walk from my house) because this time of the year is still more than hot enough for some time in the sun.  I'd also love to cook some of the million meals I have pinned, and get into the groove of creating new things for my kidlets.

There you have it!  Another Currently done and dusted.  Now I"m off to catch up on what you've all been doing. :)

It's Currently May... Linky Time!

I need to get this posted quick smart before Friday night fatigue sets in... So before I get way too comfy on the couch, here's my Currently for this month!

Listening: There are 2 daggy home and garden TV shows on here on a Friday night.  They are perfect background noise for catching up on blogs and Pinterest!

Loving: As you can probably tell, Friday nights for me are a chance to wind down and completely veg out.  Tonight I grabbed a glass of wine and my book and spent some time soaking in a hot bubble bath. The weather is finally cooling down here and this weekend we're supposed to get have a cold snap so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to break out the snuggly PJs for winter!  Now I'm planted on the couch with my laptop.  Yep, I'm a party animal. :)

Thinking: On Sunday I'm heading to my parent's house (they live about an hour away) for an early Mother's Day lunch, so tomorrow I need to make sure that I get my housework and grocery shopping done so that I'm organised for the week.

Wanting: I've been wanting to get a dresser to put in my bedroom for a while now, so this week I bought one and will pick it up tomorrow!  It's an old solid pine one that I'm planning on sanding back and painting a gorgeous green colour.  I bought some handpainted drawer knobs from Anthropologie on the holidays that I'm going to use.  Very excited to get started!!

Needing: I'm the world's worst gym-goer.  I need to get back into routine!

Surprise: There are so many blogs that I love, and one of them is Kindergarten: Holding Hands and Sticking Together.  I've grabbed so many amazing, hands on activity ideas from Carolyn.  Pop over and visit!

While you're blog hopping, be sure to check out the other Currentlies on Farley's linky.

Happy weekend everyone!  :)

It's Currently April!

April! Let's get straight to this Currently business...

Most of my Currently categories are themed towards the fact that it's the last week of a busy term! :)  I got home late tonight after a long day of parent teacher interviews and have flopped on the couch after a hot shower.  If it wasn't for The Big Bang Theory on later I would already be asleep in bed, I think.  I need one of those fancy TV's that records things!  Luckily, there's only 3 more days until our 2 week Easter break.  I'm off to Canada, and can't decided if I'm excited or dreading the long trip there.  I'm a good traveller and I love the thought of a stretch of uninterrupted time to read and sleep, but I'm thinking that the stopovers and long layovers that I have will make the journey there a bit tiring.  Time will tell I guess! If you could see me you would be able to set an idea of the type of term I've had - black circles under my eyes, a good 2 inches of regrowth, no tan etc.  Looking forward to going to the hairdresser on Friday to at least set 1 of those things right! :)

Farley wanted to know when our day starts and ends and when our last day is.  I like to get to school early, about 7am, and I usually find things to do until about 5pm.  Our first term ends this week, but the end of our school year is on the 4th of December, a.k.a millions of days away!

Go and link up with Farley to share some Currently love!

It's Currently Time!

My oh my, have you seen Farley's new blog design?  Seriously gorgeous and I am JEALOUS!  When you're popping over to join in the Currently linky you can check it out. :)

Listening: This morning there is a lovely cool breeze, and because my couch is right next beside the patio door I can hear the palm trees rustling away outside.

Loving: Autumn is here!  I can't wait for the mornings to become chilly, to break out the scarves and for TV watching to be nice and cozy under a blanket.  I'll have a while to wait though, here in Queensland it will probably be at least a month for the weather to be cold enough!

Thinking: I've always wanted to drive The Great Ocean Road (google it if you're not from Australia!) and I think this year I might finally get to do it!  I usually head overseas, but so far am planning to stay closer to home for a while.

Wanting: "I tried, but they died" should be my gardening motto.  I'm doing something wrong with my potted plants!  The camellia is doing ok, but the poor cyclamen and azelea are on their way out. :(

Needing: Oh how easy it is to waste time with frivolous things - Pinterest, shopping, gazing at the waves - when my to do list is getting out of control.  I need to set myself a time limit for those things, and make sure I get stuck into important jobs when I've reached it.

???????: That's the answer - what's the question?  Leave me a comment with your guess!

Right, I'm going to take my own advice and get my day underway with grocery shopping, laundry, lesson planning and cleaning out my clothes cupboard.  Sounds fun, doesn't it?!  What are you up to today?

Happy weekend friends!

Lauren

Currently February... Or am I too late??

I just checked... I'm going to be #305 in Farley's Currently linky this month!  I promise that I had the best of intentions to link up last weekend - and then I got food poisoning.  Bleuch!  After spending Saturday and Sunday in bed, I've been chasing my tail this week with lesson planning and resource making for my class.  Wednesday night and I finally feel on top of it, so I'm sharing my Currently - even though I'm late!

Listening: Lately here in Queensland it has been super hot and we haven't had decent rain in ages.  This afternoon showers set in and it's so relaxing to hear the rain falling and feel the cool air.  If only the sound of the washing machine wasn't in the background! :)

Loving: I love getting to know a fresh batch of Prep kidlets every year!  I have some hilarious characters who are brightening up my school days for sure.

Thinking: This term some of my non-contact time falls in a block in middle session on Thursdays.  Although I would love to use that time to get the following week's planning done, tomorrow I have a long list of jobs that I need to get finished.  Fingers crossed I'm productive, but I'm really not good with unstructured time...!

Wanting: After my non-weekend (it doesn't count if I was sick the whole time!) I have a whole heap of housework to do.  Maybe if I wish upon a star a friendly cleaning fairy will visit in the night and do it for me?

Needing: Ugh, I always feel disorganised!!  Filing, sorting, labelling... not my thing!

What's the fib??
Believe it or not, I HATE mangoes.  The smell of them turns my stomach, and I've never actually eaten one.  I know, I know - I should be thrown out of Australia in disgrace.  My morning coffee is a necessity, and I am a leftie (or South Paw as I was called in Canada) so those are the 2 truths! :)

I'd better hurry to get this posted before it's not even February anymore!  Link up (if you haven't already) and share in the Currently fun. :)

Lauren

Thursday, 2 January 2014

It's {Currently} January!

I must admit that when the first 'Currently' posts started popping up the other day I got a bit of a fright. January, already?  Even though I'd stayed up to see the new year in just the night before, it's not until Farley's linky that the reality of 2014 set in. :)

Listening: I live right by the beach so during holiday seasons, and particularly Christmas, there's lots of 'tourists' visiting to enjoy the sun.  This time of year most people bbq on their balconies, so around dinner time there's lots of talking, laughing and noise of kids playing.  It's nice! :)

Loving:  Not sure how I'm going to get used to the 5am alarm again, but at the moment I'm truly taking advantage of the time to sleep in.  2 more weeks!

Thinking:  I'm starving, so my eye fillet steak sizzling away is going to go down a treat when it's all ready. I'm having potato and greek salads with it. I've got Malteasers for dessert, too.  Yum!!

Wanting:  We're having a heatwave at the moment, with temperatures almost at 40 degrees and expected to get hotter than that over the next few days.  That makes time at the beach way too uncomfortable after about 9am (unless you're there just for a swim).  That combined with my aforementioned sleeping in means that I haven't been spending as much time there as I usually would.

Needing:  I know that the more I get done before we go back for our pupil free days the more relaxed I will feel about starting the new school year, so I need to set myself some daily goals to work through the to do list of projects and organising I'd like to do.  Wish me luck!

Favourite Memory: Each Christmas Day my Mum's extended family meet at one of our houses for an afternoon/evening party.  We swap presents, have dinner, dance and chat.  There's a lot of us (about 40 this year but usually more than that) so it's usually noisy and fun.

Better get to eating my dinner and watching a repeat of The Bachelor finale (Sean's season).  Go link up and join in on the Currently fun!

Currently December!

Well, I'm so late for the Currently linky that I'm sure I'll be about number 14382 on the list!  Oh well, better late than never. :)

Listening: Oh Big Bang Theory, how I love thee.  I'm sure I've seen the episode I'm watching right now about a million times but I'm still happy to sit and watch it! :)

Loving: 3 more days and I am ON HOLIDAYS!!! Much as I love my school, my classroom and my kidlets, I am oh so ready for a break. My big plans include: shopping, sleeping, reading and Pinteresting.

Thinking: I know that every teacher leaves a piece of their heart with their class when the year ends... but an extra big chunk of mine will stay with this year's babies.  They were just an absolute delight every day - I will miss them a lot.

Wanting: Have you ever read The Bronze Horseman trilogy, by Paullina Simons? They are among my most favourite books ever, and I'm currently reading the second of the prequels.  It's called Bellagrand.  Imagine... a couple of hours on the couch with nothing to do but read! HEAVEN!

Needing: Today I had my last day with my kiddiloops, last night we had our Carols by Candlelight concert (that I organised), last week we were finishing reports and on top of all of that - teaching Prep is exhausting.  I need a day or two of sleeping in and snoozes in the afternoon. :)

Favourite Tradition: I'm 31 years old... and the presents that I open on Christmas Day all still say 'From Santa'.  My Mum says "If you don't believe, you don't receive!".  I love that even though I'm a 'grown up' there's still a smidgen of Christmas magic in the air. :)

Well, that's about it from me!  I'm off to take advantage of the TpT Cyber Monday and Tuesday sale and buy a few bits and pieces for the beginning of next year.  My store is 28% off which makes my products a steal! :)

It's Currently November!

Let's ignore the fact that it's NOVEMBER already, and this year is clearly racing past at warp speed, and get straight to Farley's Currently!

Listening - I have Peasant Vision (a.k.a no cable) so Saturday night is sometimes a TV wasteland.  Luckily, Channel 11 plays back to back Sex and the City repeats!

Loving - My cousin Emma is 3 weeks younger than me (our Mums are the 2 youngest sisters of 6) and we spent most of our childhood together. On Thursday night she had her first baby, a 6 pound 3 ounce boy they named Tennyson James.  I met him this afternoon and he is absolutely perfect.  Beautiful soft skin, loooooooong fingers and a gorgeous, wise little face. Perfection.

Thinking - On Friday I'll celebrate the first anniversary of my 30th birthday!  I love birthdays!!! Last year we went to Vegas and had a super fun weekend.  This year I'll be with my kidlets at school.  Not quite the same, but just as special.

Wanting - I ordered this dress from ModCloth and I am just dying to wear it!

Needing - Fairly self-explanatory I'd say. :)

A Yummy Pin - I really did find it hard to pick just one yummy pin.  I frequently pin recipes, and more often than not I try them out.  Follow my Meal Planning board for lots of delicious treats.  Today I'm sharing a meal that is honestly the easiest thing you could ever cook.  All you need to do is throw some chicken thighs (skin on), pieces of chorizo and some potato and onion quarters in a baking dish.  Drizzle on some olive oil, add orange zest and oregano and bake.  Try it - you will come back to thank me, I promise! (Just don't over cook it - I usually cover mine with foil to avoid drying the chorizo out.)

This is a recipe from Nigella Lawson.

Happy November everyone!  I hope you are currently happy and healthy. :)

Currently October!

When I saw the October Currentlies popping up on my Bloglovin' feed, I honestly thought there had been some sort of mistake.  October, already?  This year has whizzed past so quickly - it will be Christmas before we know it!  Link up with Farley to share what's Currently on your mind. :)

I'm on holidays and feeling lazy, so I'll let my Currently choices speak for themselves. :)  My treat to share is a link to my all time favourite dessert!  There's a few ingredients to gather, but once you've got them it's super simple to whip these babies up.  Do yourself a favour and make some Turtle S'more Cheesecake Minis.  I mean, how can you go wrong with a treat that combines marshmallow fluff, caramel and chocolate?

All this talk of dessert has made me hungry.  I'm off to scrounge in the fridge for something yummy!

Currently September!

September!  For lots of you that means back to school, but for us here in Queensland it means that Spring holidays will arrive very soon!!  I'm linking up with Farley for her Currently. :)

How awesome is Katy Perry's new song?!  I'm listening to it on my way to school in the mornings and belting it out as loud as I can.  It's a great energizer. :)

I've got a very affectionate group of kidlets this year and I am loving all of the cuddles I've been getting from them lately.  How lucky we are to spend our days with children.

Two and a half more weeks of school and then HOLIDAYS! Can't stop thinking of all the relaxing I'll be doing. :)

After spending last year far from the beach in Canada, my supply of cute togs is seriously dwindling!  I'm wanting a new pair or two - in navy/red and maybe a polkadot print.

At the end of a busy, busy term I am needing a day at the beach.  Not just a walk or a swim - a whole day reading, snoozing and eating ice-cream.  Luckily I live close enough that I'll get lots of those days during the holidays.

The three things that I would like to accomplish this month are pretty straightforward.  It's so easy to let school life take over and push other things to the side.  I always feel more relaxed and in control when I have time to myself and an organised house, so that's what my September goals are. :)

Currently August!

August already... can you believe it? :)  I'm linking up with Farley to share what's on my mind this month.

Listening: The TV options are particularly awful tonight... it was either this kids movie, cricket or football! I do love Jason Bateman though. :)

Loving: I stayed at school until almost 7 this evening, but left with everything planned for next week.  I'm so looking forward to a free Sunday afternoon rather than one spent in front of my laptop with my planning beside me.  The weather's supposed to be gorgeous this weekend so I'm hoping to get a walk on the beach in.

Thinking: Fairly self-explanatory! Although why I didn't stop on the way home to grab a bottle is not.

Wanting: I need new gym tights, so I'm hoping that when I get to Lorna Jane tomorrow there's some sort of once in a lifetime 99% off sale happening!

Needing: Seriously, if you saw my house (apartment) you would think I'd just moved in!  I need a dining table and chairs, as well as an armchair and coffee table for a random empty space near one of my patios. I've got big doors leading on to patios at the front, side and back of my house which is great for sitting in the sun, but tricky for furniture placement!  I also have to buy stuff for the spare bedroom, but I'm not sure if I buy a bed... or a makeup table, floor length mirror etc. to turn it into a dressing room.

B2S Must Haves: We're just past halfway in our school year, but when January rolls around these will be top of my priorities:
1. The first thing I do each year is dust and clean every nook and cranny of my classroom.  I like to know that (at least for the first week or so!) things will be nice and fresh for me and the kidlets.
2. Gotta have a big stack of cute notepaper for all those back to school to-do lists!
3. Organisation doesn't come easily to me - I need to spend time almost daily making sure that everything is in it's place, otherwise things get on top of me and then my room looks like a disaster area.  It helps if I've decided where and how I'm going to store things right from the beginning of the year so I know where I can find things and where I need to put them back during the year.

There you have it, all the excitement of a new month. I hope your August has been just wonderful so far! :)
